Monstera

toxic to pets and humans when ingested, can cause a severe burning sensation

Native to Mexico and Guatemala this plant offers large perforated foliage with cutouts resembling Swiss Cheese. Topping out at 8 feet tall in just 7 years this plant is ideal for large spaces with bright indirect light. A wooded support is recommended for aerial root to cling onto as this plant matures.

Light: Medium bright, indirect light. No direct light.

Temperature: Average room temperature is fine or slightly warmer. Temperatures between 65-85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Water: Allow soil to dry about an inch down between watering. Water less often in the Winter.

Nutrients: Feed every 2 weeks with a balanced houseplant fertilizer. Try to feed monthly during the Winter.

Soil: Soil mix is key for a healthy plant. Mix 2 parts clean topsoil, 2 parts peat moss, and 1-part sand or perlite.

Repotting: Repot every other Spring. A large pot is best so the plant’s aerial roots can be planted when they emerge. Support is needed as the plant matures.
