Light: Provide at least 6 hours of bright light. This plant can handle direct sunlight indoors or outdoors.

Temperature: Average room temperature between 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit is great. If you grow yours outside be sure to bring inside when temperatures drop below 50 degrees F. They prefer drier climates but will tolerate some humidity.

Water: This plant is drought tolerant so keep the soil moderately moist. Allow the top of the soil to dry a couple inches down before the next watering. Provide a little more water when plant is flowering.

Nutrients: This plant does not require regular feeding, instead provide a cup of compost to the soil in the Spring to provide some nutrients.

Soil: For potted plants it is best to use a regular potting mix with a few handfuls of sand to create a well-draining mix. Add a small amount of compost in the Spring for nutrients.

Repotting: Divide plant every few years in the Spring to promote healthy growth. Use a sharp knife to cut and separate roots gently. Plant up divided plants and share with friends. Always select a container with drainage.

Container Design: Plant in container gardens outdoors with other sun-loving annuals. This plant would make a great Filler plant in hot sunny areas. Generally reaching 18-24” tall and 12-24” wide.

Deadheading: Remove spent blooms as needed. Cut back the entire stem at the base of the plant.

Happy Planting: The Kangaroo Paw plant is one of few plants that mimics animals. Its fuzzy flowers are soft to the touch and open slightly at the top mimicking an animal paw. Choose from red, pink, yellow, or orange. This dwarf variety reaches about 12-15” tall and wide.
