Cosmos

Cosmos are sun-loving annuals that offer lace-like foliage and daisy-like flowers that come in shades of pink, purple, white, and red. They excel in areas with poor conditions like dry soil and hot, sun-beaten ground beds. They are loved for their soft, pastel colors that continue to bloom all summer long. They provide an excellent source of pollen to bees and other pollinators making this plant a great companion plant near a vegetable garden.

Light: Plant in a full sun to part sun area providing at least 5 hours of sunlight. Sufficient light keeps them blooming all summer long.

Water: Water regularly allowing soil to dry between next watering. Cosmos are drought tolerant plants and can tolerate dry soil and hot conditions. Overwatering can cause lack of flowers.

Planting: Cosmos are ideal for ground beds. They provide wonderful height and color that attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators to your garden. Plant in mass or pair with other sun-loving annuals like Zinnias, Marigolds, and dianthus.

Deadheading: Trim back dead or spent blooms to the next leaf set to keep plants looking neat and to help promote new blooms.
