Common varieties: Superstar, Yellow Iceton, Red Iceton, Petra, Oakleaf, Mrs. Iceton, Mammy, Banana, Gold Dust, and Gold Star

All parts of this plant are toxic to pets.

Crotons are native to Malaysia, India, and some of the South Pacific Islands offering colorful foliage in yellow, orange, red, or green. They excel in container gardens during the summer and fall, but can also be brought indoors and enjoyed as a houseplant year-round. Provide lots of bright light. Varieties like Yellow Iceton, Red Iceton, and Mrs. Iceton benefit from more light, helping keep their colorful foliage vibrant.

Light: When planted outdoors Crotons will enjoy full to part sun. When cared for indoors provide a sunny window that is south or west facing with some direct sunlight.

Water: Water as needed allowing soil to dry slightly between watering, but not completely dry. For indoor care: avoid letting soil dry out completely and don’t let it stand in water.

Planting: The Croton can be planted in containers, using a well-draining soil mix, and ground beds for outdoor color during the summer and fall. Whether for outdoor use or indoor use, always select a container with drainage. Repot every year in the spring, increasing the pot size by 1-2 inches. Keep this plant slightly rootbound to help control their size.
