Native to China the Pilea or Friendship Plant has increased in popularity just over the last few years because it was just a few years ago that it was made available in the USA. Easy to propagate ‘pups’ that grow from parent pant and share with others it’s no mystery how it got its nickname.
Light: Enjoys bright, indirect sunlight near a window is ideal. Keep out of direct light so it does not burn.
Temperature: Average room temperatures between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit will work great.
Water: A once a week soaking can generally do the trick, but every environment is different. Allow to dry between waterings. Droopy leaves generally mean it needs water.
Nutrients: Feed during the Spring/Summer once a month with an all-purpose fertilizer.
Soil: A lightweight potting mix with peat moss, perlite, or both.
Repotting: Repot about once a year in the Spring. Increasing about 1”-2” larger for root growth. Increase to a larger pot could result in drowning the root system.
