Zinnia
DREAMLAND & MAGELLAN SERIES
Zinnias are annuals known for their amazing, bright color. Choose from large layered blooms in yellow, orange, red, and pink. Cherry, Orange, Scarlet, and Yellow are some of our favorites from the Magellan Series. Their large, colorful blooms can attract Monarchs, butterflies, and other pollinators to your garden when planted in mass quantities. Zinnias are a fast growing, continually blooming annual that thrives well in containers and ground beds. Some varieties stay compact at about a foot tall while other varieties can get several feet tall.
Light: Plant in full sun to part shade, providing at least 5-6 hours of sunlight for best performance.
Water: Water regularly allowing soil to dry slightly between watering, but not completely dry. This plant is prone to getting powdery mildew if the foliage is constantly wet or damp. Water at the base of the plant and avoid the foliage.
Planting: Compact Zinnias can be grown in containers while taller varieties are great for ground beds. Green foliage fills out the midsection of a container or ground bed to provide volume, while offering brightly colorful flowers that will attract pollinators like bees and butterflies to your garden. Plant alone or pair with other sun-loving annuals.
Deadheading: Deadheading is recommended. Keeping up on deadheading faded or spent flowers will help promote continued growth and production of new blooms.
