Celosia
Celosia are annuals known for their clusters of brightly colored flowers. Feathers, paint brushes, or coral have all been used to describe this flower. Choose from colors like orange, pink, red, or yellow in the Glorious Series during the summer and the striking red color of the Dragons Breath in our fall collection. Celosia continue to bloom throughout the summer and fall seasons and excel in containers and ground beds. The name Celosia is derived from an Ancient Greek word that means “burning” referring to the flame-like flower head that plant produces.
Light: Plant in full to part shade, providing at least 4-5 hours of sunlight for best performance.
Water: Water regularly or as needed, keeping soil slightly moist. Water when you notice the top layer of soil feels dry. Avoid soaking this plant. Too much water can cause root rot.
Planting: The Celosia can be planted in large containers, using a well-draining soil mix and a container with drainage. Add to ground beds for outdoor color. This plant is mildly drought tolerant to withstand our summers and excels in cooler temperatures into the fall season.
Deadheading: Feathery flower heads hold their color for a very long time. As they begin to fade simply cut back at the base keeping the foliage untacked.
